Welcome aperitif, followed by a stroll through the beautiful cobblestone streets with fantastic views. Group dinner featuring regional specialties and a chance to get in the mood for the days ahead.

Our first hiking stage takes us along old mule trails through olive groves and chestnut forests. Time and again, magnificent views of the Tiber Valley open up before us. Our destination is the picturesque little town of Citerna, which enchants with its viewing terrace and medieval alleyways. At midday: a panino or a light lunch. In the evening, we enjoy Tuscan delicacies and a glass of Vino Tavola.

We hike to Monterchi, enjoy a cappuccino and a croissant before visiting, if desired, the Madonna del Parto by Piero della Francesca. We continue hiking over the gentle hills and reach the idyllic wellness resort Borgo di Celle – a restored mini-village with pool, garden and excellent cuisine. At midday: a packed lunch or a light stop along the way. In the evening, once again a multi-course menu with homemade pasta.

One of the highlights of the trip: the ascent to Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, a proud village at 688 m altitude, which captivates with narrow alleyways, a mighty fortress and magnificent views over the Umbrian hill landscape. At midday: a light lunch or panino in the village; in the evening we are treated by a local Mama and a home-conjured dinner.

Hiking with light luggage
When hiking, we only take a light rucksack with us containing the essentials. The rest of our luggage is transported from place to place in our pick-up truck. The agriturismi usually offer double rooms, but sometimes there may be a triple or quadruple apartment. A small surcharge is applied for single rooms.
Required equipment
The weather in May/June is usually good. But even in October/November, you can usually expect mostly dry weather and, of course, cooler nights. It is advisable to bring something warm to wear: we eat outside whenever possible. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees, so be sure to bring good shoes and rain gear, as well as a daypack for the essentials.
