Overnight stay: Fattoria di Germagnano, where 50 donkeys live in paradise.
After a hearty breakfast, we hike along hill paths, through olive groves, tobacco fields, and small country roads to Fattoria di Germagnano, an old farm in the hills north of Sansepolcro. Panoramic views of Lago di Montedoglio accompany us on our way. In the afternoon, rustic charm and cozy accommodation await us in the middle of the Alpe della Luna nature reserve. At lunchtime, we enjoy a panino, and in the evening, we are treated to a multi-course meal made from the farm's own produce.

Stage: approx. 20 km · ↑ 500 m / ↓ 450 m · Walking time 5–6 hours.
Overnight stay: Agriturismo Sacchia Farm, which belongs to a horse breeding farm.
After the first gravel paths, the ascent through chestnut and oak forests begins. Breathtaking panoramas can be enjoyed on our forest and meadow paths. The narrow path follows partly historic cart tracks and partly marked CAI paths until we reach the highest point (1050 m).
Historical note: For centuries, the Passo di Bocca Trabaria was an important trade and pilgrimage route between Sansepolcro and Urbino. Old maps refer to it as “Via di Trabaria,” a route that was already used by monks and merchants in the Middle Ages.
The descent is a bit adventurous, but great fun. Soon we reach Borgo Pace, which literally means “place of peace” – and indeed, the village exudes a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The Sacchia Farm, an idyllic estate with a rural atmosphere and homemade cuisine, awaits us after this strenuous but beautiful day of hiking. Lunch: Packed lunch.

Day 4 – Sacchia Farm → Antiata di Sopra (charming vegetarian resort)
Stage: approx. 17 km · ↑ 550 m / ↓ 400 m · Walking time 5 hours.
Overnight stay: Resort Antiata di Sopra
The hiking trail leads through the picturesque hilly landscape of the Marche region and offers a mixture of gentle climbs, dense forests, and breathtaking views. Following in the footsteps of Francis of Assisi, we approach our destination for the day, the dreamlike Resort Antiata di Sopra. Beautiful rooms and two outdoor bungalows offer relaxation in the midst of nature. Lunch: Panino, in the evening the homemade delicacies of vegetarian chef Rosa.

Day 7 – San Leo → Verucchio
Stage: approx. 15 km · ↑ 400 m / ↓ 350 m · Walking time 4–5 hours

Crossing mountain ranges and rolling hills, we reach Verucchio, a charming medieval village with the Rocca Malatestiana castle, narrow streets, and views over the Marecchia Valley. Day 9 – Departure from Rimini
A leisurely, hearty breakfast and individual departure or extension. What an adventurous hike to be proud of. A heavy-hearted farewell...

Hiking with light luggage
When hiking, we only take a light rucksack with us containing the essentials. The rest of our luggage is transported from place to place in our pick-up truck. The agriturismi usually offer double rooms, but sometimes there may be a triple or quadruple apartment. A small surcharge is applied for single rooms.
Required equipment
The weather in May/June is usually good. But even in October/November, you can usually expect mostly dry weather and, of course, cooler nights. It is advisable to bring something warm to wear: we eat outside whenever possible. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees, so be sure to bring good shoes and rain gear, as well as a daypack for the essentials.
